Community Building

Coalition Building

Parivar Bay Area seeks to build a life for our trans queer South Asian lives by creating diverse coalitions to expand beyond our intersectionality and hold spaces that let us be vulnerable and celebrate our identities simultaneously with our cultural roots. Our coalition-building includes LGB folks, cishet allies, other trans queer people of color, etc. For example, we played critical roles in founding the Queer Trans Asian Pacific Islander Coalition, the Trans Immigrant Coalition, advancing the US Trans Survey, hosting the first global Trans Day of Remembrance, and countless informal coalitions through events throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Diversity Journeys

Parivar Bay Area has also been leading the country in advancing cultural competency and racial, gender, and sexual equity in workplaces, educational spaces, boards, and more.

Our team of diverse trans and gender-non-conforming educators leads workshops and strategy development across the entire country. We worked with countless nonprofits as well as companies, including Google, Walmart, the UN, UPS, the University of California, and more.

Parivar Bazaar

Parivar Bazaar ("family store" in Hindi) is a full-fledged e-commerce platform for South Asian products that are sourced, made, and finished entirely by South Asian trans/hijrah folks.

Since all proceeds are 100% directed to the South Asian trans artists and entrepreneurs, Parivar Bazaar is an important part of our journey to trans economic justice.
