Program Officer- Americas
Reporting to President of Parivar Bay Area
Flexible P/T .20 hours/week; Hourly Rate: $25.

Organization description: Parivar Bay Area is a Trans-centering LGBTQIA+ non-profit organization fiscally sponsored by the LGBT Asylum Project. Founded in 2019, Parivar has a simple tagline: “Our South Asian Queer Trans Family.” Reclaiming spaces beyond cisness, Parivar uplifts South Asian Trans and Gender Non-Conforming (GNC) individuals and welcomes all LGBT and allies. Position Summary: An ideal candidate has a passion for trans liberation and learning about the global issues facing our South Asian, trans diaspora. They will be focused on the Americas (North and South) and will be responsible for implementing outreach, communications and development goals set by the President. This position benefits from an interest in queering healthcare equity including COVID-19 crises in the San Francisco Bay Area, especially within the city of Oakland. This role includes the following key responsibilities: communications and outreach; supporting development activities; database management; creating reports as needed; organizing documents; guiding grant submissions and follow up conversations with potential funders, working closely with the President on grant status and development; communicating effectively with Parivar Board, membership, partners, vendors and funders; and assisting the President, Board and partners in making effective presentations and engagements with the community.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Administrative Duties: Manage grant funds and ensure compliance of submissions including those due to The City of Oakland. This includes accounting, record-keeping, reporting, and all other compliance requirements.

Research: Understand the LGBTQIA+ population that is the target of this program by learning from existing grassroots and mutual aid organizers. This requires an outgoing individual who is eager to learn and support, without preconception.

Outreach: Foster an expansive network of resources, including funders, individual donors, corporate partnerships,to aid in the program’s activities.

Coordination and Event Organizing: Guiding Parivar community to organize fundraising events and oversee Oakland grant execution. This includes publicity and promotional activities, engaging and delegating to volunteers and vendors, and ensuring safe spaces for all participants, especially the target audience of this program.

Communication and Promotional Activities: Utilizing a variety of platforms to disseminate information around relevant events and programs, including through social media, physical posters, and newspapers. This involves understanding where and how the target population is receiving information.
Qualifications:

Commitment to social justice and uplifting trans and gender non-binary queer communities.

No college degree necessary with non-profit &/or community organizing experience; 4-year college degree preferred.

Preferred: Experience with educational campaigns and/or communicating highly technical ideas in an accessible form.

Grant Manager is detail-orientated and able to manage multiple tasks.

They must be flexible with varying schedules and activities during the week.

They have the ability to work effectively individually and in a team setting with or without supervision

Self-motivated, independent worker

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in social media

Ability to work collaboratively with a team remotely

Capacity to work from home; position based anywhere.

Preferred: Creative technical skills like graphic design or video editing (Canva, Photoshop, or adobe Premiere Pro) would be a preferred qualification
